Nichepork.org website making strides
Despite limited promotional support, nichepork.org has
consistently gained ground since its launch 3 1/2 years ago:
- site visits have nearly
tripled (from 2800 to over 8000 average monthly visits)
- each month, pages
featuring the searchable producer/processor databases
are viewed
an average of over 1500 times*
- downloads from the site
currently average 3000 per month
- the producer/processor
database has grown from an initial 20 producers in a few
states
to over 260 producers/groups and processors in almost 40
states
- nichepork.org is
considered one of NPB's stronger performing websites
NPB goals in 2007 for
nichepork.org include website activity increases and further
growth of producer and processor database listings.

First NichePork conference held in Ohio a
success
The 2007 NichePork conference held in Bryan-Montpelier, Ohio
in January received an extremely positive evaluation from
producers. The 75 producers who attended learned about local
and national trends impacting demand for niche pork
products, supply systems & producer marketing associations,
grants/proposals, and food safety issues. A favorite part of
the day, as in past NichePork conferences, were producer
presentations of personal successes and challenges - this
year featured Nick Sommers of Pine Hill Pork Farm in Indiana
(farm direct) and Chuck Cornillie of Cornillie Farm in
Michigan (organic).
The conference was sponsored by Ohio State University
Extension, Michigan State University Extension and the
National Pork Board. To view conference presentations go to
